Is Cartoon Network finally starting to grow up, by showing more mature shows?
I've always been a big fan of Cartoon Network, ever since I was a kid. I'm sure anyone who watched Cartoon Network back in the 90's-early 2000's remembers all of their great shows, including:
Ed, Edd, and Eddy
Samurai Jack
Powerpuff Girls
Courage the Cowardly Dog
Dexter's Laboratory
I loved these shows, and I'm sure a ton of others are with me on this one; these were the BEST shows Cartoon Network ever put out. Unfortunately, most of these shows were cancelled, but reruns can be found sometimes. Well, now that CN has cancelled most, if not all, of its shows, what will they do now? It's easy: produce more shows. Now, I'm not going to say all of the new CN shows are terrible... but 90% of them serve as proof of why most kids these days are dumbasses. Seriously. Shows like MAD and The Problem Solvers make me disappointed that youth today aren't able to enjoy the amazing cartoons CN had back in the day. Now, I'm not going to completely bash CN's new line-ups, because there are two shows I actually do enjoy: Adventure Time and The Regular Show. As interesting and hilarious I find these two new shows, something else sparked my interest. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed how mature some scenes are in these shows!? I'm not complaining, I'm 16, I can handle the content, but is this a hint that CN might finally be hitting puberty? I saw this from The Regular Show yesterday, and this clip was what sparked my interest.
Remember back when all a CN show had was a fart joke and cooties? Could this be a clue that Cartoon Network might be leaning to capture views from a mature audience, rather than kids? I know they have [adult swim] late at night, but do you think CN could possibly end up showing more mature shows for good to gain views from the teenage/mature audience?
